Most of the stories we write about are real stories from our members. The different ways we’ve helped countless people smash their goals. Losing 10+kgs, gaining strength, gaining confidence, having more energy etc.
This week will be a little different. Easter is upon us. A lot of you reading this are currently on a weight loss journey. Today, I’m going to walk through 3 hypothetical scenarios for people trying to lose weight during Easter. By the end, you can decide which path you’d like to take.
Each scenario is represented by a person who has already lost 5Kgs leading up to Easter. Person A, Person B and Person C.
Person A) The MVP Weight loss Student
Let’s start with Person A.
Person A is the MVP. Before the weekend, she came up with a plan. She decided that this week she wasn’t going to focus on weight loss. She was okay with maintaining her weight. This would give her more calories to play with. She was also going to limit herself to chocolate only on Sunday. On Saturday and the rest of Sunday, she planned to reduce her calorie intake. This would compensate for the extra calories from all the chocolate.
She executed this plan to a T.
Person A maintained her weight. The following week she jumped back on her weight loss journey. 3 months later, she was down another 5Kgs.
This all sounds lovely and easy. But the reality is, most of us won’t execute the plan as well as Person A. And that’s Okay. That brings me to Person B & C.
Person B) Don't Do This
Person B threw everything out the window. Friday through to Monday was a complete write off. By Tuesday morning, Person B felt like he was 60% chocolate. He got a papercut and he could have sworn some chocolate leaked out.
Remember, Person B had lost 5Kgs leading up to Easter. But after Easter, he thought:
“Stuff it. I have completely ruined all my progress. I might as well give up.”
And he did. He went back to his old ways and stopped prioritizing health and fitness altogether. 3 months later, Person B had gained the 5Kgs back and was back to square 1.
Person C) The Undercover MVP
Now for Person C.
Person C threw everything out the window. Friday through to Monday was a complete write off. By Tuesday morning, Person C felt like he was 60% chocolate. He got a papercut and he could have sworn some chocolate leaked out.
Sound familiar? Up until Tuesday morning, Person B & Person C had the exact same experience. But here’s the difference.
Person C didn’t beat himself up. He realized that he had gone off the rails. Yes, he was a bit gutted. Obviously the weekend binge wasn’t planned and wasn’t ideal, but 4 days is only 1% of the entire year. He understood that he is human and that things don’t always go to plan. And that’s okay.
On Tuesday morning he was back in the gym. He had his protein smoothie for breaky and was back at it.
3 months later, Person C had lost another 5Kgs. He was in line with Person A.
3 Main Takeaways
I want to point out 3 quick takeaways from this story:
Notice that none of our examples cut out chocolate completely? It’s Easter. Depending how old you are, you probably have less than 60 Easters left. Enjoy some chocolate.
Person A did the ‘best’ over Easter. But when we zoom out, Person A & Person C were in the same position 3 months later. Try thinking long term. Start thinking in months / years instead of days and weeks.
There was only one difference between Person B & Person C. The way they spoke to themselves when they looked in the mirror. Be kind to yourself.
Final note: If you’re a member of ours and you want extra support during or following Easter, let us know. That’s what we’re here for. As you know - No ask is too much.
