MELISSA LU
CO-OWNER & PERSONAL TRAINER
Melissa’s fitness story starts with kickboxing. She spent 10 years fighting competitively, before transitioning to Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, which she has now been competing in for 7 years.
Mel loves helping women find their way in fitness. When it comes to fitness, often women are pushed down the path of yoga, pilates and dancing. These are all great, but Mel has seen first hand how the discipline of doing a martial arts and gaining strength through strength training can boost a woman's self esteem and self confidence (even though these areas of the industry are usually male dominated).
Before becoming a Personal Trainer, Mel was a Civil Engineer for over 6 years. This is where she met Samu, where they both pushed each other to quit and follow their dream of opening a gym. The Pride is that dream!
Mel is also a nutritionist who studied at the world renowned MNU. If you’re a woman trying to find your way with fitness, or looking for a transition into the often intimidating and male dominated martial arts world, Mel is your gal.

SAMU ENDEMANN
CO-OWNER & PERSONAL TRAINER

Samu’s fitness story starts with Rugby. He started when he was 5 years old. Then at 18 years old, after making national level age grade teams, he has his first knee surgery. Then he had his second.. third.. fourth.. fifth. Not ideal, we know. Over the past 8 years Samu has had 5 knee surgeries while also still playing top grade Rugby.
Throughout Samu’s 5 knee surgeries, he was forced to find creative ways to continue working out around his injuries. During his time off, he studied different training techniques and has over 13 years practical experience in strength training. Samu has helped many people lose weight, get stronger and feel more confident through strength training. So if you’re interested in strength training, or have an injury you need to rehab and work around - Samu’s your guy.
Samu was also a Civil Engineer for 6 years before becoming a Personal Trainer and opening The Pride. He is our go to when it comes to programming and lifting technique.
